I think Jackson lost a bet when he was early in production of King Kong. It's the only way I can explain Jack Black being casted in it. It looks good, but I dunno if I have the will power to go see it.

Well I dont want to sound like a troll but Im waiting for a good movie to come out; the MPAA has even blamed themselfs for bad movies over the years...
Yet the movie cretics give everything 4stars...
the commercials for the kong movie make it sound "too good to be true"
they have huge quoted phrase's over and over, like any other movie commercial...
It seems every commercial I see for movies are remakes...
I hope both of you enjoy the film.

Oh I don't listen to critics anymore, man. Anyone who nominates 50 cent for an emmy and blows down cult classics like The Goonies 'cause it doesn't have special effects needs a bullet in the head. NEVER listen to what critics say - go see it for yourself.
Speaking of seeing it for yourself, I'm defeantly checking out that remake of The Producers. It looks reeeeally good.

i sorta work on that film....in a way, my office to thought jack black??? Ummmm....
BUT he actually does a very good job lol. The shots are great and is just a fun film. If Jackson ever came to the office though like everyone would tackle him to pick his brain about Halo the movie.

I agree; don't listen to critics. But I was thinking they used the huge quoted phrases to keep with the feel of the movie. The whole thing is very much based on the original 30's film and that's how stuff was advertised back then, I think.

Peter Jackson= Spielberg? Whoa.. slow down son. You cant go putting just anybody in Spielbergs shoes. When Jackson makes 15 or 20 blockbusters, let me know. Till then, hes just ripping off a classic and filling it with CG monsters. Its basically the Hulk, with hair.

The Hulk is the only movie where I literally left the theater out of bordom. I made it all the way through Dream Catcher, one of the most stupid movies I've ever seen, but couldn't make it through The Hulk.
King Kong just doesn't look entertaining at all.

Spielberg couldn't have pulled off Lord of the Rings any better than Jackson, I know that much. That trilogy alone launched him into top 5 director of all time status in my book. The way Spielberg cheesed up the ending of War of the Worlds with the son taking off and then showing up at the moms house when he shoulda been dead was just too weak of an ending. Makes me think he's gettin soft in his old age.

Even great movie makers have bad films.. War of the Worlds sucked big time and he will have to make up for it. Still a few good films from Jackson and then a remake of a classic, Kong, does not make him Spielberg or GEORGE LUCAS!! Give me a break. These two guys have given a lifetime of work and made dozens of movies that are amongst the greatest of all time. Its normal though... A new guy shows up, makes a decent film and all of a sudden hes the greatest director/writer/producer of all time. The same things were being said about that guy who directed Oceans 11/12... Steven whatever his last name is. Oh hes the greatest... Uh huh... Oceans 12 sucked worse than the original 11 with the Rat Pack. Kong might look cool with the CG effects of today, but its the same story we've known since the original. If this guys is such a great director, how come he didnt come up with something new?

Yeah War of the Worlds was sort of bleh.
Still you have to give Peter Jackson some credit for all the hard work the man put into those three films. He was the first to shoot three movies at once and gave us those three films every following December for our viewing pleasure.
As for Kong a few of my buddies saw it without me and they said it was sad, but oh so good. I plan on going to see that and Narnia soon enough.
And yeah The Producers looks pretty promising!

Went and saw this movie last night. I honestly wasn't too excited by the trailers... but the movie was nothing like I thought it would be. A lot more terrifying and intense. Loved it. They did some scenes in a way that I've never seen done before. Stampedes, bugs (you're going to appreciate the worms), great stuff. I didn't think it dragged too much except for at the end, they seemed to play that out a bit too much.
